Tapovan (near Laxman Jhula) is the most popular first-time base — cafés, yoga and shops within walking distance. For quiet with easy access, Muni Ki Reti and the Tapovan riverside near Ram Jhula are lovely. For a spiritual, traditional stay choose Swarg Ashram near the Triveni/Parmarth aarti; for adventure, stay upriver near Shivpuri.
