Best Time to Visit Rishikesh
Rishikesh is a year-round destination, but the experience changes a lot by season — the rafting stops in high monsoon, the views are clearest in winter, and the shoulder months are the sweet spot. Here’s when to go for the trip you want.

Rishikesh
season by season
If you want the short answer: aim for late September to November, or February to June. Here’s how each season feels.
| Season | Months | Weather | What it’s good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Autumn | Sep–Nov | Warm, clearing skies, fresh river | Best all-round — rafting, camping, clear views |
| Winter | Dec–Feb | Cold (5–20°C), crisp, clearest Himalayan views | Sunrises, yoga, rafting (cold), quiet |
| Spring / early summer | Mar–Jun | Warm to hot (up to ~40°C in Jun) | Rafting, long days; hot midday |
| Monsoon | Jul–Aug | Heavy rain, high river | Lush and green; rafting & camping usually paused |
Travelling in the rafting season? Our 2-day package makes the most of it — rafting, a riverside camp and the aarti.

Rafting season
& the monsoon
River rafting and riverside camping run roughly from mid-September to June. During the peak monsoon (July–August) the Ganga runs high and fast, and rafting and riverside camps usually close for safety — the one time to plan around if adventure is your goal.
The rest of Rishikesh keeps going year-round: the Ganga aarti, yoga, temples and the bridges are open whatever the season. So even in monsoon there’s plenty to do — just swap the river for the spiritual side.
